Teton County 4-H Camp

The Teton County 4-H Camp typically takes place the second week in July. Teton County 4-H members participate in educational activities, scavenger hunts, dances and more.
Teton County 4-H members have enjoyed camping traditions – camp fire, songs, cook-outs, hiking – for several generations. In 2009 the Teton County 4-H Camp will be held July 14-16 at Camp Rotary near Monarch. Camp offers members a chance to make new friends, build independence and learn new skills. 4-H Camp is planned by Junior Counselors – 4-H members who are 14 and older who have applied for this leadership position. Most classes and workshops are taught by older 4-H members. They are mentored in the camp planning process by camp directors, Cindy Luoma, Caroline Rogers and Dawn Smith-Sullivan, and Extension Agent, Jane Wolery.
4-H members say that camp is one of their favorite activities of the year. They look forward to the water fights, the hidden camp fire, the dances, skits, games, fun and friendship.
4-H members over age 8 are welcome to attend and will be invited to stay in a cabin with 4-H members their same age. They will have a counselor who is assigned to their cabin. Their counselor will help the members get acquainted and attend to each child. There are adult chaperones available at camp, too.
4-H members sleep in bunks and need to bring sleeping bags and personal care items. Campers eat “mess hall” style and one 4-H camper recently said that one of the best parts of 4-H camp is the food!
Campers younger than age 8 are welcome and encouraged to attend if they bring a parent/guardian along to camp. The 4-H camp counselors include youngsters at every age and skill level in the activities they have planned.
Teton County 4-H Camp provides a family atmosphere ready for memory making . . .
