UPLAND BIRDS IN MONTANA

LEARN MORE ABOUT UPLAND BIRDS IN MONTANA

There are many upland birds in Montana and many that have now made Montana home or have extended their native range through the efforts of many people and various agencies. Rural landowners can use various techniques to improve their property to increase the bird habitat. This can include changing the species of plants, allowing plants for mature instead of harvesting, providing additional watering sites, and protection from predators.

Not all land in Montana is suitable for upland birds and not all species of upland birds can tolerate Montana's harsh weather. Landowners should take the time to study their property, understand the needs of the birds, and look at other properties that have successfully improved their bird habitat.

If you are interested in improving upland game habitat on your land, I would suggest that you visit the link "Success Story" on the right column.
