Project 2030: Montana's Ageing Population |

Montana will become much older in coming decades as the “Baby Boom” generation reaches traditional retirement age. Changing demographics will affect state and local government budgets in a variety of ways. The information and analysis focuses on changes in the age distribution by holding all other factors constant: expenditures per student, per capita incomes, tax rates and so forth. Thus, the projected changes described stem solely from the expected changes in the age composition of the Montana population.
