2015/2016 BRIDGER / BANGTAIL WATERSHED HEALTH - Financial Assistance and Technical Support Program

Cost share ranges from 25 - 75%.

Projects included in the financial assistance program includes:

  • The creation of defensible space adjacent to structures

  • Reducing fuels to protect ingress and egress routes

  • The creation of fuel breaks on your property

  • The promotion of fire-adapted ecosystems

  • The regeneration of aspen, willow and deciduous stands

  •  Improving the forest health and wildfire risk of your entire property

Steps for landowners who are interested in receiving grant funds:

  1. Submit an Application to the Gallatin County Extension Office. Spring Application due June 2017.
  2. Get your neighbors involved! - Projects with more than one neighbor may qualify for greater cost share
  3. Site Visit with Natural Resource Agent and Steps for Landowners.
  4. Receive property recommendations: What to expect, How much should I do?
  5. Decide to have work done on your property
    1. Hire a contractor  or
    2. Do the work yourself
  6. Natural Resource Agent will let you know what grant money is available to help cover costs
  7. Work begins
  8. Natural Resource Agent approves completed work and provides agreed upon amount of financial assistance
