In the heart of Montana's 'Golden Triangle', Chouteau County is the largest wheat producing county in Montana. In 2008 the county produced over 20.5 million bushels of winter wheat and over 2.25 million bushels of spring wheat. Chouteau County also was the 9th ranked county in barley production.
Cattle are also a major agricultural industry in the county with 42,000 cows and calves in 2009.
